The Author is known as laika chao greenfinger.
they are usually comfortable with any pronouns but recommend a default to they/them for ease when writing, which is what they do.
they are me. i'm laika. many call me "chao" (pronounced like "cow" or "K.O." either is fully acceptable and correct and I alternate between them in my head).
this is not my birth name but a sort of pen name that has become a signifier of my identity. the namesake for "laika" was a stay dog that the soviets sent into space. there is a song about her called "laika" by a band called the drones that expresses the tragedy of her situation. this song and the dog herself and her story are where i take the name laika from. "chao" is from the sacred chao of discordianism. in part i will always be a discordian, partially because it is so malleable that you can't really not be. "greenfinger" is after the camberwell now song "greenfingers." it's just a great song.
